HORIZONS Program Child Evaluations

Horizons is a specific treatment program for women who are struggling with substance abuse or addiction. The year long residential setting houses women and their children (birth - 11 years) as part of comprehensive treatment and family work. The Psychology section at the CDL works closely with the Horizons Program (UNC Department of OB-GYN) to offer psycho-educational and developmental evaluations of the children as their family enters and leaves the program. The goals of the evaluations are to identify developmental, behavioral or learning needs of the children as quickly as possible so that these areas may be addressed by program staff and the public schools in a timely manner.
